High-level TrendMiner Architecture

A TrendMiner installation consists of two major components:

  • The TrendMiner Server (sometimes called the TrendMiner appliance)

  • TrendMiner Plant Integrations module (sometimes referred to as the "Connector")

The TrendMiner Server includes the main TrendMiner software. This contains all the internals such as the TrendMiner algorithms, runs all calculations, contains the application databases, connectivity layer, etc. It also provides web-based interfaces to the end users and administrators for system configuration.

TrendMiner Plant Integrations is a .NET web application. It provides a common API to the various historians and data sources supported by TrendMiner. The platform is installed on a Windows Server provided by the customer. End users access TrendMiner through their web browser over a secured connection.

Note that the installation of the Plant Integrations module is not always required.

Firewall ports

The TrendMiner appliance server controls the packet filtering rules of the Linux kernel using iptables. By default, only icmp, ssh (tcp/22), http(s) (tcp/80, tcp/443) and port 8080 are allowed.
