Running 32-bit vs 64-bit

Most computers and applications nowadays run on 64-bit. However, in some cases, (older) applications and connectivity drivers are only available in 32-bit. Also, some applications offer both 32-bit and 64-bit versions for backward compatibility.

This is important since connectivity will only work when the target data source and the driver used to connect match each other. TrendMiner's plant integrations will by default run 64-bit. If your connectivity depends on a 32-bit driver, the application pool setting needs to be changed.

Change the property for "Enable 32-Bit Applications" to True and restart the application pool. The Plant Integrations will now run in 32-bit.

Avertissement

Note that the same connector cannot run both 32-bit and 64-bit drivers at the same time. If you plan on using a 32-bit driver for one or more data sources, and 64-bit for the others, you need to install 2 Plant Integrations connectors side-by-side by deploying a second IIS website. This can be done on the same server following the same installation steps but assigning a new user, a different IP port, etc.

Note

Incorrect settings will result in the connector api web interface not loading in the browser. Instead an error will be shown: "Could not load file or assembly <driver name> or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format."
