Who to involve?

Depending on your organisations size and structure, multiple people from your IT and OT organizations might need to be involved to get TrendMiner up and running, configured and connected to your data sources. We recommend reaching out to everyone involved and discussing the installation process early to avoid any delays later on.

The following roles are typically involved:

  • Server provisioning and maintenance

To provide the necessary (virtualized) servers according to the requirements, create and maintain snapshots of the Virtual Machine and provide console access for troubleshooting when needed.

  • Networking specialists

To make the necessary network port and firewall configurations to allow traffic between the TrendMiner server, Plant Integrations and your data sources, and to allow end users to access TrendMiner through their web browser. They will also be able to help out on DNS, NTP and mail relay configuration or connect you to the people who can.

  • System security

To generate (and update) the necessary SSL certificates for secure access to TrendMiner.

  • Data source admins

To provide access to the data and deliver data queries if you use a generic connector.

  • SAML/LDAP admin

While we recommend managing TrendMiner users locally within TrendMiner for initial Explore programs, it is possible to connect TrendMiner to your SAML or LDAP user management system. Involve your SAML/LDAP admin to set up the configuration.

Make sure to discuss responsibilities during the initial installation process as well as for future upgrades and support needs.
