Unexpected error when handling authentication request to identify provider

An error on the TrendMiner login page saying: “We are sorry… Unexpected error when handling authentication request to identify provider” indicates TrendMiner cannot successfully connect to the external IDP to authenticate users.

This error is usually caused by an expired LDAP manager DN password.

To solve this issue:

  • Log in in ConfigHub

  • Navigate to “Identity Providers”

  • Select your LDAP provider

  • Click “Edit”

  • Update the manager password

  • Save

  • Synchronize LDAP again

To get into ConfigHub you will need to use a local user account with admin permissions. If you do not have one you can use the hardcoded local “admin” account.

In case you do not have the password or OTP for the admin account you can reset it using ConfigHub access recovery

If updating the manager DN password does not solve the issue, verify that TrendMiner can still successfully connect to the LDAP server using the “Test connection” button on the LDAP configuration screen.

Contact TrendMiner support in case none of the above solves the issue.
