How to set up a Shiftconnector data source?

INTRODUCTION

Shiftconnector is a plant process management (PPM) solution that allows manufacturing teams to manage, monitor and optimize plant operations around work activities and production assets.

CREATING SHIFTCONNECTOR PROVIDER

To integrate with and ingest data from the Shiftconnector application, a datasource of provider type Shiftconnector can be added and configured in ConfigHub.

To add a Shiftconnector data source, in ConfigHub go to Data in the left side menu, then Data sources, choose + Add data source. Fill out 'Data source details' on the first step of the datasource creation wizard: type the name of the data source, select “Shiftconnector” from the Provider dropdown. Selecting the capabilities for the data source with the given checkboxes will open additional properties to enter, grouped in following sections:

  • Connection details - lists properties related to the configuration of the connection that will be established with a datasource

  • Asset details - lists properties relevant for asset data

  • Context details - lists properties relevant for context data

As the asset and context capabilities go hand in hand in Shiftconnector, the checkboxes for Asset and Context capabilities must be selected together.

Following properties need to be populated to establish the connection to the Shiftconnector provider:

  • "Username" - a mandatory username used to establish a connection

  • "Password" - a mandatory password used to establish a connection

  • “Tenant ID" - a mandatory tenant ID as configured in the Shiftconnector application

  • “Host" - a mandatory host URL of the Shiftconnector application

ASSET CAPABILITY

There are no asset specific properties to configure for the Shiftconnector provider.

If the asset capability for the Shiftconnector is enabled, TrendMiner will ingest Functional Locations from the Shiftconnector domain as Assets into the TrendMiner domain. Only active functional locations are synced as assets into TrendMiner.

TrendMiner caches functional locations. Changes in existing functional locations on Shiftconnector side will only be visible after a manual resync, triggered at least 1 hour after the change. If a new location is added, it will become available after manual resync immediately.

Notice

A maximum of 1000 functional locations can be synced into TrendMiner. Contact TrendMiner support for help in case you run into timeouts.

CONTEXT CAPABILITY

There are no context specific properties to configure for the Shiftconnector provider.

If the context capability for the Shiftconnector is enabled, TrendMiner will ingest entry items of type ‘Event' from the Shiftconnector domain as Context Items into the TrendMiner domain. Deleted events aren’t synced into TrendMiner as context items.

The provider will map Shiftconnector categories to TrendMiner context item types. The link between the asset hierarchy and the context items is established using components in TrendMiner.

Warning

Data requests to Shiftconnector will timeout after 120 seconds. Contact TrendMiner support for help in case you run into timeouts.
